Night is about the Jews that were in Germany and what they went through during WWII. It follows along a young boy named Elie who is taken from his home and brought to Birkenau. He talks about the ghettos that they were forced to live in and the trip from the ghettos to Birkenau. In my personal book that I am reading, called Rebel, Bully, Geek, Pariah, It follows along the story of a girl named Sam. It starts off with her in jail and talking to her mother about what happened. She talks about how she was going to buy her mother a present for being drug free for so long, when it is stolen by a girl named Andi. Sam chases Andi through a forest to a party where they are met by a group of "popular" girls. Andi saves Sam from the group and they run to a creek where they meet a jock named York picking on a nerd named Boston, who we find out later that they are brothers. The party is then busted by the police and York refuses to get caught underage drinking so they steal a car. York does not see the police officer run out on the road and hits and kills him. The cops who were following them start shooting at the kids so they drive away in the stolen car. When they finally needed to pull off for gas, they find out that they stole an undercover cop car and that it has a bunch of drugs in it. I do not really know how to connect the two books because in Rebel, Bully, Geek, Pariah, its about four kids running from the police, while in Night it is about the troubles of the Jews. I guess that one thing they have in common is both of the main characters are struggling with authority figures. It is mainly different because in Night, they are forced to obey by the authority, while in Rebel, Bully, Geek, Pariah, they are running from the authority. Night is more of an autobiography memoir, while my choice reading book is just a story that is told by the author. Night is also more of a sad but educational read that should be shared around the world so that people know what the Jews went through, while my book is more of a book to read for fun.
