Persepolis is a new type of book for me. I have only ever read one other book that was a graphic novel like this, but it was Japanese and I do not remember the name. Most other books that I read are more of the murder and or mystery sort. Some things that I have noticed that are the same is the type of language that is used. I read more of adult or young adult style books that have adult or young adult stuff in it and Persepolis would definitely fall under the young adult section for me. It uses bigger words and has more of a colorful language like most books that I read. The main difference between the books I mainly read and Persepolis is the pictures. I find that the pictures are helpful because you can see what the character looks like and you can see what they see and you do not have to picture what they are trying to say in your own mind, even though that is sometimes the best part of reading. Another big difference is that Persepolis is a real story of a real person. I typically read books that are either fiction or that are based on a real story but has been changed. Most books I find that are about real people tend to bore me, accept for American Sniper.
I am liking Persepolis so far. I think that because it is a graphic novel that it makes the book easier and more interesting to read. Most biographies that I have read have not interested me because I find them boring, but Persepolis keeps it interesting with the pictures.
