I started a new book finally. I'm probably still going to read When the Moon Split in my own free time but at a slower pace so that I can keep up with it. The new book that I picked is called Dead Ends by Erin Jade Lange. It's about this kid who is a bully, whos name is Dane, but is forced to help a mentally disabled guy, named Billy D., find his dad. Dane keeps causing trouble at school by fighting with anyone who dares stand up to him. Billy D moves in next door and starts to follow Dane to school because he's scared of the other bullies and asks him questions about why he does what he does. It gets Dane thinking about it. The school "Warden" assigned Dane to help Billy D with anything he needs, within reason. Billy Ds' dad moved out a while ago and Billy D feels like his dad left him clues as to where he is in an atlas. Dane doesn't know his dad and his mom doesn't like talking about it and Billy D pokes at it saying that he will help Dane find his dad if Dane helps him find his. Dane also helps give Billy D lessons so that he can stop the people that pick on him himself. I like this book because in a way both characters represent me. Billy D represents my careful side that questions everything, where as Dane represents the "tough guy that is only weak for girls" feel. This book captures my attention because it's a mystery book and it feels like your in the mind of Dane and see and feel what he sees and feels. There's a part of the book where he argues with his mom and you read how bad he feels. The reading level is for young adults, mainly because it swears almost every other few pages. There are no, and hopefully no, sex parts. Dane is 16 - 17 so I don't think there is but his mom was 15 when she had him so there might be one later in the book between him and a girl that was just introduced for the second time (page 91) but I doubt it. Erin Jade Lange also wrote a book called Butter that I don't know anything about and might read next because I like the way that she writes. She also has a book called Rebel Bully Geek Pariah that sounds interesting. The cover has the "Hi my name is: " and they have the Rebel, Bully, Geek, and Pariah (an outcast). It sounds like something like the breakfast club but I don't know or want to read anything about it yet in case I find something else. But so far I really like Dead Ends and the way that she writes it and I am excited to read her other ones.
